This may come across as odd, but the service and politeness of the people of Sri Lanka are embarrassing. Embarrassinly nice. They don't expect tips. They are happy to help and in my opinion, people get to work, not have to work. The young lady who made up my hotel room folded my cloths, left me a note thanking me for being here and left it next to the towel animals. The manager left fruit and a note upon check-in. People in the shops and attractions were polite.
